Blog Desert Archetype #5
I'm lost in the sand
I have so much to withstand
I have lost my chance
All hope is lost now
Mouths so dry that they blister
No word I can say
They circle around
They see every move I make
But no help they give
Look up to the sky
And perhaps the star will guide
To some unknown life
Time is not a gift
As my skin burns from my sins
Silence come take me
Do I hear you speak
Oh no, wait that was the wind
Come forth and confess
I need you near me
Without you, I have no ground
Lord, deliver me
Can't you hear me cry
Without you I have no rye
Please don't let me die
Walking without aim
Is that not an Oasis
Perhaps I'm not done
Finally, I m delivered
I am thankful I'm saved now
Back to my normal life.
Hot during the day
But freezing cold in the night
Such is desert life
I have so much to withstand
I have lost my chance
All hope is lost now
Mouths so dry that they blister
No word I can say
They circle around
They see every move I make
But no help they give
Look up to the sky
And perhaps the star will guide
To some unknown life
Time is not a gift
As my skin burns from my sins
Silence come take me
Do I hear you speak
Oh no, wait that was the wind
Come forth and confess
I need you near me
Without you, I have no ground
Lord, deliver me
Can't you hear me cry
Without you I have no rye
Please don't let me die
Walking without aim
Is that not an Oasis
Perhaps I'm not done
Finally, I m delivered
I am thankful I'm saved now
Back to my normal life.
Hot during the day
But freezing cold in the night
Such is desert life
The fact that you maintained the haiku syllable requirements throughout is hella impressive. This poem is a really interesting interpretation of what it means to be in the desert. It does a really good job of actually putting you in the shoes of someone who is and almost understanding the experience as if it was you.
